Students chose a character from pioneer times to recreate in puppet form.

Students wrote complete sentences on strips of paper and glued them to a paper plate. The plate was set on a placemat of sight words and a border of the alphabet. A plastic fork finiished the 3D sculpture.

Students create poems based on the three Witches in Macbeth...."Boil Boil Toil and Trouble...". They write rich descriptions of the ingredients of a Witch's brew. These are collaged onto a papier mache bowl. The sessions culminate in an en mass reading in role!

Students created stick puppets with wood, paint, fabric, etc.. The pallet was in keeping with the the theme of ancient China.

Students created "mini me's" with their school photo as the face and a tooth pick as a pointer stick. Three sided 4" x 14" mini science project display boards were created so the dolls could "do science presentations"!

Students Created symetrical quilt blocks with paper. The teacher then collaged them into a spectacular wall quilt.

Students created symetrical patterns with magazine paper and construction paper. Once finished text was added about how the pattern related to pioneer times..."Pin Wheel: If pioneers did not near a lake or a stream, they might collect water from their roofs which would ge full of mosquito larvae etc. OR they might have built a windmill to pump water.

Literacy/writing
Students covered half a balloon with papier mache. When dry the bowls were painted with primary colors. Words related to the theme of sharing and caring were written on paper and glued in.
